1.Prep the client's neck: Before caping.
Always place a fresh sanek/neck strip or a clean towel around the client's neck first. This is essential for hygiene and prevents the cape from rubbing directly against the skin.
2.Position and fasten the cape: Securing the fit.
Bring the cape from the front to the back. Wrap it over the neck strip and fasten the adjustable snap closures snugly. It should be tight enough to prevent hair from falling down the shirt, but loose enough for the client to breathe comfortably.
3.Adjust the coverage: Maximizing protection.
Ensure the fabric is draped evenly over the client's shoulders, arms, and lap. Smooth it out over the back of the styling chair so no clothing is exposed to water or hair splinters.
4.Remove cleanly: After the cut.
When the haircut is finished, unfasten the snaps and gently peel the cape backward and away from the client. Fold the hair inward into the cape so it doesn't spill onto the client's clothes or the floor.
