Resale Certificate Documentation Requirement
Why We Require This
As a wholesale distributor, we are required to verify that businesses purchasing from us for resale are properly registered with their state to collect and remit sales tax, and are legally authorized to purchase inventory exempt from sales tax.
This documentation protects our company from tax liability on wholesale transactions and helps us confirm that we are extending purchasing accounts to legitimate, registered resale businesses.
Required Upload Document
States use different names for this authorization. To complete your application, please upload one (1) of
the following documents, whichever applies to your state:
- Resale Certificate / Reseller Certificate – The actual document you hand to a wholesaler to prove you are exempt from sales tax.
- Seller's Permit – The official state-issued authorization to sell goods (common in states like California).
- Sales Tax License / Sales Tax Permit – The standard name used by most state Departments of Revenue (such as the Florida Dept. of Revenue).
- Certificate of Authority – The terminology used in states like New York to authorize sales tax collection.
- Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) License – The unique name used specifically in Arizona.
- Wholesale License – A common industry term, though legally it usually refers to the same sales tax registration.
